A 24-year-old Jordanian woman, identified as SYM, was arrested in North Cyprus for living in the country illegally. The incident began when she was called to the Boğaz Police Station near Girne (Kyrenia) to give a statement about a traffic accident in Tashkent village. During routine immigration checks, authorities discovered she had no valid permit to stay in North Cyprus.

SYM admitted to entering the country unlawfully in November 2024 and confessed to repeatedly crossing into Southern Cyprus without official permission. Police asked the court to extend her detention for three more days to continue their investigation. Judge Evren Mürsel approved the request, ordering SYM to remain in custody. The case highlights ongoing efforts to address illegal residency and border violations in the region.
