Growing military tensions between India and Pakistan have worried the world, especially because both countries have nuclear weapons. After days of attacks on each other’s military bases, the U.S. stepped in to help calm the situation.

On Saturday, former U.S. President Donald Trump shared on his social media platform, Truth Social, that India and Pakistan agreed to a full and immediate ceasefire. He thanked both countries for acting wisely and praised U.S. diplomats for working all night to make this happen.

This agreement came after four days of intense fighting along the Kashmir border. It was the worst clash since the 1999 Kargil war. The recent violence started after an attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, a tourist area in Indian-administered Kashmir, which killed 26 people, mostly tourists. India accused Pakistan of being behind the attack.

From Wednesday onward, both sides used missiles, drones, and heavy artillery. India even closed 32 airports in northern and western regions until May 15 for safety.

The situation grew scarier when Pakistan’s military hinted at a meeting to discuss its nuclear weapons. However, Pakistan’s Defense Minister later denied any such plans.

Meanwhile, U.S. Vice President JD Vance said America would not get directly involved but stressed the need for peace. He stated, “We want the fighting to stop quickly. We can urge both sides to calm down, but we won’t join a war that isn’t our fight.”

According to a global research group (SIPRI), India has about 172 nuclear warheads, and Pakistan has 170. With both nations armed so heavily, the world is watching closely to prevent a dangerous escalation.
