A bomb threat caused panic in Lefkoşa (Nicosia) on Thursday afternoon. At around 5:30 PM, police received a report about a suspicious package on Tazminat Street. Officers rushed to the scene immediately and blocked off the area.
Authorities evacuated nearby cafés, shops, and offices to protect people’s safety. They also stopped cars from entering the street. A bomb expert arrived and carried out a controlled explosion at 6:00 PM to safely destroy a suspicious bag found at the location.

After ensuring the area was safe, police reopened the street to traffic. However, officials have not yet shared details about what was inside the bag or who might be responsible for the threat. Investigations are ongoing.
Local journalists reported heavy police presence during the incident, but no injuries were reported. Residents and business owners praised the quick response but expressed concern over rising security risks in the area.
