Northern Cyprus Presidential Complex & Nation’s Garden Opens May

Posted by

The “Presidential Complex Project” in Northern Cyprus, which includes newly built government offices and a finished public park, will officially open in May. This large development, often called the “complex” (külliye) by locals, has three main parts: the Presidential Office, the Parliament Building, and a green space named the “Nation’s Garden.”

The complex is located in the Metehan area, between the villages of Aydemet and Ortaköy. The land was given to the government by the Turkish Cypriot Peace Forces in November 2021. After this transfer, construction began quickly.

The project was managed by a Turkish company, Siyahkalem Engineering & Construction, which won the contract with a budget of 2.497 billion Turkish Lira (about $81 million USD). The actual building work was done by another Turkish firm, Tüfekçi LTD. The design includes modern offices for the president and lawmakers, as well as a large park open to the public. The Nation’s Garden is expected to become a popular spot for families and tourists.

Local leaders say the complex will improve government operations and give residents a new place to relax. The opening in May will include ceremonies and guided tours.
